Former Congressman Allen West is making the case that the decision in Obergefell v. Hodges which struck down state laws prohibiting gay marriage applies to the 2nd Amendment as well and, therefore, restrictions on gun rights are prohibited.
In an essay on his website, Allen West made the case that it is legal right to open carry guns anywhere in the United States as a result of the Supreme Court's decision in Obergefell v. Hodges.
West started off noting disappointment in the Supreme Court decision that makes gay marriage.
"There are those of you who are somewhat despondent, but just know that in every storm there is a rainbow — quite sure y'all get my tongue-in-cheek comment," West wrote. "Yep, since now the SCOTUS has determined it can bequeath a right to marriage across all 50 states, there is an interesting point to be made.
West explained that the Court used the 14th Amendment to come to the rationalization that prohibitions against gay marriage violate the Constitution. West suggests that the same reasoning should be used to consider other Constitutional rights such as the right to bear arms.
Amendment XIV Section 1 states "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law, which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. "
"Using the same 'due process clause' argument as the Supreme Court just applied to gay marriage, my concealed carry permit must now be recognized as valid in all 50 states and the District of Columbia," West concludes.
"Yes folks, there is a standing right called the Second Amendment, which grants the right to keep and bear arms, and that specifically granted right shall not be infringed. So, the SCOTUS does not need to have a court case and prolonged legal, judicial activism — that right exists. So, since I have moved from Florida to Texas, my concealed weapons permit is not only transferrable here, but all across the country, in all fifty states — or fifty-seven if you are President Obama. "

statues in South Carolina, Maryland and Texas were discovered defaced
this week with the words "Black Lives Matter."The discoveries come just days someone vandalized a Confederate monument less than 2 miles from the racially-inspired mass shooting in Charleston, S.C.
In that case, a Confederate monument near the Emanuel A.M.E. Church was also spray-painted with the phrase "Black Lives Matter," as well as the message "This is the problem. #RACIST."
CBS affiliate WCSC in Charleston reports that a second Confederate monument was discovered defaced on Tuesday.
Symbols of the Confederacy, especially the Rebel Battle Flag, have come under renewed criticism following last week's shooting by a white man at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, that killed nine people.
In Baltimore, the same words were done in yellow paint over an etched message on a statue that was erected by the Maryland Daughters of the Confederacy in February 1903, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Those who live, work and study in the area had mixed reactions to the message being written on the statue, which is across the street from the campus of Maryland Institute College of Art. This statue is one of several such statues devoted to the Confederacy in the city.
In Texas, Austin American-Statesman reporter Ralph Haurwitz tweeted that several statues on the University of Texas at Austin's campus had been defaced in a similar way.
Campus security spokeswoman Cindy Posey confirmed that "Black lives matter" was scrawled early Tuesday on the base of the statue to the president of the Confederacy, and also on those for Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Albert Johnston.
"Bump all the chumps" also was sprayed below the Davis statue.
This is at least the fourth time over the years that Davis' statue has been defaced.
Meanwhile, in Texas, an online petition recently was launched to have the Davis statue removed from campus.
But Davis' great-great grandson, Bertram Hayes-Davis, says his ancestor was a statesman with a broad list of accomplishments who's being unfairly demonized.
The "Black Lives Matter" movement, which sprung up in the wake of the several killings of black men by white police officers, has not formally taken responsibility for the vandalism.

Sawed-off shotguns legal in Indiana starting July 1
The change takes effect July 1 under a bill approved by state lawmakers earlier this year allowing the manufacture, selling or ownership of shotguns with barrels 18 inches long or less.
Bill sponsor Sen. Jim Tomes, R-Wadesville, said the change would bring state law into line with federal regulations allowing ownership of short-barreled shotguns by those who pass background checks for permits from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Federal law prohibits someone from altering a shotgun to have a barrel less than the minimum length, he said.
"You can saw off the barrel but you'll spend 10 years in a federal penitentiary doing that," Tomes told WRTV (http://bit.ly/1MG77nD ). "These guns are manufactured by licensed manufacturers and they're under heavy regulations."
One person was sentenced to an Indiana prison on a sawed-off shotgun during 2012 and 2013, according to Indiana's nonpartisan Legislative Services Agency.
Tomes said short-barreled shotguns are expensive to buy and mainly owned by gun collectors.
Leaders of the Indiana Chapter for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America didn't oppose the sawed-off shotgun ban repeal during the legislative session, saying the group was more concerned about proposals for repealing the state laws for handgun licensing and allowing colleges to impose campus bans on firearms. Both of those bills failed to advance.

UPDATE - a little message
i hope China and Russia realise that a disarmed US public severely weakens their own position.
i would hope that they would be prepared to defend the rights of the US public from the interference of an out-of-control Government controlled by Satanists.

it is quite clear they are trying to provoke the USA to take action / permit control of guns.
if we react to their provocations, we are marching to their tune, not ours - this would be a potentially fatal mistake - actually, if u r wise u can see that all they are really doing, is making fools of themselves.
i will state the position again, as far as i'm concerned:
we only rise up:
1. if ALL other options have been exhausted
2. if they are about to make a move which would weaken us irreparably
right now there are three things stopping them seizing power:
1. an independent-minded China
2. an uncooperative Russia
3. the well-armed US public
they cannot attack these 3 all at the same time
so, they will choose the easiest and deal with that first - leaving the other 2 severely weakened
it looks like they've decided that the first on the list is the well-armed US public
I'm sorry, but we DO NOT rise up as and when THEY wish
the moment we do, we've given them exactly what they want
I know its painful but we have to endure it
the alternative will be far worse; and it will also help wake those still asleep, as they begin to see how completely broken this system is - even ordinary people will realise that these events have to be orchestrated.
We may never have to rise up - given enough rope, they may just hang themselves
Those of you who think its clever to get into a fight - grow up. This isn't tiddly-winks. We are talking about the lives of 6.5 billion people and indeed, the future of humanity.
So, I'm sorry people, but we have to remain calm and focussed and realise this is all orchestrated to make us fall into their trap.
If we dont, the trap may just take them instead.
